Hello world!

I'm Zsombor.

[ INTRODUCTION ]

My name is Zsombor Rajki, a third-year Computer Science student at Eindhoven University of Technology. I'm originally from Hungary and now based in the Netherlands. I'm passionate about problem-solving, mathematics, and creating technology that combines functionality with thoughtful design. My journey into computer science began with simple curiosity, which grew into a strong drive to learn, build, and challenge myself. I see computer science as a powerful tool for bringing ideas to life. It blends logic, creativity, and persistence to create meaningful and intuitive solutions. Alongside my studies, I work on real-world projects, including developing computer vision systems for a beach-cleaning robot, as well as several personal side projects. In my free time, I find inspiration in movies, hiking and nature. I'm always aiming to stay curious and keep growing.

[ SKILLS ]

I'm proficient in Python, Java, Swift, React, C, Git, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Figma, SQL, and R, with experience spanning both software development and user interface design. I've learned some of these tools through my studies at university, while others I've picked up on my own. I prefer project-based learning, so I focus on deepening my knowledge by creating more complex programs using these tools. However, I don't want to get comfortable and let familiarity hold me back from learning new things, so I'm always expanding my toolkit and ready to explore new technologies.

Projects

Here you'll find some of the projects I've worked on, each one reflecting a different stage of my learning and development journey. Scroll horizontally to explore them at your own pace, and if something catches your interest, select it to see more details about how it was built and what I learned from it.

GAIA Robotics

"Cleaning up beaches through technology"
GAIA Robotics has been a major part of my life lately and it is one of the larger projects I've been involved in. It is a student team at my university dedicated to developing CASTUS, an autonomous robot that collects trash from beaches and helps clean coastal areas, the perfect project in the intersection of technology, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.
I joined GAIA Robotics in September 2024, as a member of the AI & Software department. I worked on computer vision and object detection/classification, focusing on fine-tuning YOLO models and optimizing their performance on embedded hardware with limited computational resources. The goal was to design a vision system capable of recognizing and classifying different types of waste in real-world environments.
In September 2025, I took on a new challenge by joining the board of the team as the new Leader of AI & Software Department. In this role, I lead a team of students developing the robot's perception and decision-making systems, integrating machine learning with software architecture and hardware control. We are currently focused on building our first fully functional prototype, combining research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and hands-on experimentation.
Being part of GAIA Robotics has been an incredible experience, it has allowed me to apply theory to practice, develop leadership and technical skills, and contribute to a project that aligns with my passion for innovation and sustainability.
